Donc mes 10 souhaits pour le retour de 24 (ça mange pas de pain   )

1 ) un Jack Bauer offensif, violent, complexe et sombre, genre saison 7 et non pas un Jack «politiquement correct» ou «grand père gâteau» du début saison 8. Pas en mode vengeance personnelle mais en héros prêt à tout pour sauver des vies innocentes.

2 ) pas de menace à grande échelle (elles ont toutes été utilisées d’ailleurs) mais une menace réduite comme en saison 1 ou Redemption.

3 ) peu de sous intrigues ou de scènes inutiles à l’intrigue principale : Jack cambriole une supérette en attendant que Chloé positionne un satellite (s4), ou les célèbres aventures de Kim et du cougar (s2). La CTU ne devant pas réapparaitre on évitera aussi les querelles amoureuses/professionnelles au bureau.

4 ) un méchant, un seul, mais charismatique, un adversaire à la hauteur de Jack (du style Jonas Hodges s7) et pas une tripotée de russes, chinois arabes…

5 ) une histoire reliée à l’actualité : Al Quaida, l’Iran, le Moyen Orient…En situant l’histoire en Europe et avec  le nouveau format qui va permettre de sauter des heures, Jack pourra passer entre 2 épisodes de Londres à Damas par exemple.

6 ) Howard Gordon a précisé qu’il pensait au retour de quelques personnages, Chloé c’est déjà fait, mais je reverrais volontiers Aaron Pierce, Novik (j’ai toujours bien aimé ce personnage) et la sexy Mandy, pas Kim en revanche, je pense que tout a été dit sur ses relations avec son père. Mais un personnage que j’aimerais bien retrouvé c’est Dalia Hassan, la présidente du Kamistan (s8) (interprété par Necar Zadegan) un beau personnage de femme forte et intelligente.

7 ) Tony Almeida…oui je sais, après la s7, difficile de le faire revenir en tant que méchant, ça serait redondant, mais peut-être à la fin, en cliffhanger, en sauveur de Jack !

8 ) Audrey…même problématique, j’aimerais son retour mais il ne peut y avoir de happy end, donc juste 1 ou 2 épisodes.

9 ) le retour du style visuel 24, celui des saisons 1 à 5, un peu oublié par la suite : cadrages décalés, jeux de lumière…voir :

10 ) pas trop d’explosion, je souhaite que 24 Live Another Day soit plus un thriller d’espionnage qu’un film d’action.

My 10 wishes for the return of 24 (wishful thinking)

1) A ruthless, complex and dark Jack Bauer, like in season 7 and not a "politically correct" Jack like in the beginning of season 8. But not for personal revenge, just a hero saving innocent lives…whatever it takes!

2) No big scale threat (they have all been used elsewhere) but a reduced one as in season 1 or Redemption.

3) Few subplots or unnecessary scenes: Jack robs a supermarket until Chloe positioning satellite (s4), or the famous adventures of Kim and the cougar (s2). CTU won’t be back  so we'll also spare professional / love quarrels at the office.

4) Only one villain, but a charismatic one, a nemesis worthy of Jack (like Jonas Hodges s7) and not a bunch of Russian, Chinese, Arabic ...

5) a story connected to the news: Al Qaeda, Iran, the Middle East ... the story will takeplace in Europe and the new format will allow to jump hours, so Jack will be able to jump between two episodes from London to Damascus for example.

6) Howard Gordon said he thought about some characters return, Chloe is already done, but I would gladly see again Aaron Pierce, Novik (I always liked him) and sexy Mandy, but not Kim, I think everything has been said about her relationship with her father. But, it’s one character I’d like to see come back: Dalia Hassan, the s8 Kamistan’s president, a very strong and clever woman.

7) Tony Almeida ... yes I know, after s7, hard to get him back as a villain, it would be redundant, but maybe at the end in a cliffhanger, as Jack’savior!

8) Audrey ... same problem, I want her back, but it can’t be a 'they lived happily ever after', so just one or two episodes.

9) the return of the 24 visual style, of the seasons 1-5, a bit forgotten by the following seasons

10)  I want 24 Live Another Day to be more a spy thriller than an action movie. 

Selon le journal canadien, Toronto Sun, Rupert Murdoch, le big boss de la Fox – en fait de News Corp le groupe possédant la maison de production, la chaîne de TV, de nombreuses autres chaînes et journaux dans le monde – serait derrière le retour de 24 heures chrono à la TV.

Il faut préciser que Fox TV, créée en 1986, est devenue en 2007 la chaîne la plus regardée aux Etats-Unis…et 24 n’est pas étrangère à ce succès, la série ayant attiré des millions de téléspectateurs et obtenu de plus de nombreux prix prestigieux alors que la Fox est surtout connue pour ses jeux débiles et ses émissions de télé réalité.

Toujours selon ce journal, Murdoch serait un fan de Kiefer Sutherland et l’aurait invité à plusieurs reprises à ses fêtes à New York et Los Angeles. Il ne doit guère connaître les prises de position politiques très à gauche (surtout aux US) de Kiefer, alors que lui même est connu pour ses positions très très à droite

Ce matin, le président de la Fox, Kevin Reilly, et le président d'Imagine, Brian Grazer ont annoncé le retour pour l'été 2014 de 24 heures chrono avec comme titre "24: live another day" "24 vivre un jour de plus". Kiefer Sutherland to Return as JACK BAUER in New Event Series Produced by 20th Century Fox Television, Imagine Television and Howard Gordon's Teakwood Lane Productions

FOX has ordered 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY, a thrilling new tent-pole event series set to restart the clock on the groundbreaking and Emmy Award-winning drama franchise starring Kiefer Sutherland. Produced by 20th Century Fox Television, Imagine Television and Howard Gordon's Teakwood Lane Productions, 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY will make its historic debut in the summer of 2014 on FOX.

The announcement was made this morning by Kevin Reilly, Chairman, Fox Broadcasting Company; Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen, Twentieth Century Fox Television; and Brian Grazer, Chairman, Imagine Entertainment.

The high-octane saga will reunite showrunner Howard Gordon with Sutherland and retain the real-time, pulse-pounding, fast-paced format with split screens and complex interweaving storylines, with 12 episodes representing 24 hours. The suspenseful event series once again follows the exploits of heroic agent JACK BAUER (Sutherland), who will resume his story several years following the events of the final season.

"It's great to have Jack back. '24' redefined the drama genre, and as we reimagine the television miniseries, this iconic show will again break new ground for the network," said Reilly. "The series remains a global sensation, and everyone at FOX is thrilled to be back at work with Kiefer, Howard and the incredibly creative '24' team."

Originally premiering November 6, 2001, '24' was nominated for a total of 73 Emmy Awards, winning for Outstanding Drama Series in 2006. Over eight seasons, Kiefer Sutherland garnered seven Emmy Award nominations and one win for Outstanding Lead Actor - Drama Series. While the series gained global recognition, Sutherland's portrayal of the legendary character penetrated the American psyche like no other dramatic television character to become part of the cultural lexicon.

24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY is a production of 20th Century Fox Television and Imagine Television in association with Teakwood Lane Productions. Howard Gordon, Brian Grazer and Kiefer Sutherland will executive produce, along with an additional team to be announced. The original series, which had its last American broadcast on May 24, 2010, was created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran.

L’incroyable nouvelle est tombée jeudi 9 Mai, mais j’ai préféré attendre au cas où ce serait encore une de ses rumeurs infondées qui traînent sur le net. Mais c’est maintenant confirmé !

Alors que l’adaptation cinématographique est tombée à l’eau (voir Kiefer Sutherland: "24 heures chrono le film n'est plus dans mes projets" ) personne ne s’attendait à un retour de 24 à la TV.

Fox TV a donc le projet d’acheter 12 épisodes dans la cadre de sa nouvelle politique de diffusion de mini-séries (format habituel sur les chaînes câblées).

Il ne s’agirait donc pas vraiment d’une saison 9, mais d’une histoire originale écrite par Howard Gordon, l’ex showrunner de 24 et actuellement de l’acclamée d’Homeland, et son confrère et ex producteur de 24, David Fury.  Une sorte de reboot en quelque sorte.

Des négociations seraient en cours avec Kiefer Sutherland, dont la nouvelle série Touch vient d’être annulée sur la Fox, il est donc libre…

Espérons seulement que ce projet n’aura pas le même destin que le film !
